It’s no secret that Noblesville is a great community to be a part of. Located just east of Westfield and just northeast of Carmel and Indianapolis, Noblesville offers big city attractions paired with beautiful, scenic landscapes.

Had enough fun in the sun and ready to cool off and fill up? Many great restaurants are right along Conner Street near the White River, and surrounded by great local shops that are definitely worth checking out. Noblesville Main Street is another great area to see, as well as the following attractions:

What Are the Dangers of Neglecting Chimney Sweeping?

There are two common questions we get: 1) Are annual chimney sweep and inspection services really necessary? and 2) Do I need yearly inspections if I rarely use my fireplace?

And the answers to both? Yes – and yes! Here’s why…

  • Creosote Buildup & Fire Hazards: Whether you use your fireplace a lot or hardly at all, creosote is still bound to build up if you burn wood – and at a much quicker rate if you’re not using proper burn practices. Because creosote can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire (which can then spread to other parts of the home), this isn’t something to take lightly or ignore.
  • Carbon Monoxide & Smoke Exposure: A blocked chimney can occur in both used and hardly used systems. In fact, sometimes it’s the ones that lie dormant for awhile that are most likely to attract birds and pests – and, by association, lots of leaves and nesting materials. When a chimney is blocked, proper ventilation is restricted, which can cause carbon monoxide and/or smoke to build up inside the home when a fire is eventually lit.
  • Structural Damage: Debris buildup and moisture – both things that occur whether a chimney is frequently put to use or not – can weaken the chimney structure, leading to cracked masonry, damaged flue liners, and other structural issues. Unless these issues are caught and addressed early with an annual inspection, this damage can lead to costly repairs – or even a full chimney replacement.
  • Increased Energy Costs: When you do put your fireplace to use, you want it to function efficiently – that means more heat in your home and less overall energy waste. A clean chimney improves efficiency by helping fires burn more effectively and reducing the need for alternative heating options…and lowering your home energy costs. On the flip side, neglecting sweeping services can lead to an inefficient fireplace that requires more fuel and provides less warmth.
  • Animal Infestation: Birds, squirrels, and other animals have been known to take up residence in unused or neglected chimneys. These nests can block airflow and cause unpleasant odors, and their presence can introduce additional health risks.

Routine chimney sweeping, ideally performed annually, can prevent these risks, keeping your home safer, more efficient, and as comfortable as possible.

What Do Our Customers Have To Say?

I had 6 different companies (chimney or roofing companies) look at why our chimney was leaking when it rained. I paid a fortune to these companies, and the chimney kept leaking. I called the Mad Hatter, and they sent Roger out. Within minutes he found the cause of the problem and fixed it, and he charged me so little. I was hesitant at first after so many “fixes” that didn’t work, but it has now been over a year and NO LEAKS! Roger was right, and he really did solve the problem. I don’t stress out now when big storms come. Thank you, Mad Hatter!
